DRAWING NOW Art Fair is the first contemporary art fair dedicated to drawing in Europe. Following his nomination as winner of the DRAWING NOW 2018 prize, Bulgarian artist Michail Michailov presents the exhibition "I am everywhere" from January 30th to February 22nd 2019 at the Drawing Lab Paris.
"I show drawings from my series "dust to dust" in different forms. There are many aspects that can be seen by looking at the coloured pencil drawings. The main question raised by my art is that of existence. In questioning what makes sense in life, I am influenced by knowledge of what human science knows and what it knows less at the same time and how relative human views can be seen - as well as the slightly different view of real dust and coloured pencil dust.
With this background, I create an interactive space, showing an artificial microcosm of dust and various tasks that have accumulated in my studio. This high level of effort in drawing to reproduce something totally useless, raises questions in a playful way about the meaning and value of men and art. The unconscious enters the consciousness. Things that are unlikely to be seen become visible."
