The N5 Galerie and Le lieu multiple montpellier make their return in unison with a new edition of the appointment now well identified, Drawing Draw, which offers cross views of artists around the practice of drawing, in various forms. At the N5 Galerie, will be presented the works of Marie Havel and Amélie Joos.

The work of Marie Havel finds its origin in the notion of ruin, its apprehension through childhood, its materials, its experiments...

Having grown up in the midst of landscapes formerly tormented by the torments of the Great War, the artist today reconstructs the future remains of a civilization doomed to decline. Her work consists of a tension between constructed and deconstructed, between discovery and recovery, and thus, between play and ruin.

The artist is also interested in the motivations of vain action, in the learning of failure, which can be found in the ritual of the game. She conceives the possible changes of identity of the same place or landscape with the will to point out the individual history in a more collective history, to reveal the travesty of places through memory, to perceive places as "used landscapes".

Between infinite modulations in a defined universe and unlimited scenarios, Marie Havel de-dramatizes the notion of time that passes and uses with hope, poetry and lightness. She seizes this striking memory to put it at a distance with the tools and ideas of her generation. For this exhibition, the gallery highlights the singular and multidisciplinary palette of the artist who experiments the possibilities of the practice of drawing by exploring with great dexterity all the mediums.

Marie Havel (France) is a recipient of the residency program "Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation & Cité internationale des arts".
