Boule de Suif is the tale that established Guy de Maupassant as a master of the realistic short story. His writing is concrete and uncompromising.
In her project Boule de Suif - Tribute to Maupassant, Françoise Dô is working on a theatrical adaptation which features a new character: a narrator linking Guy de Maupassant’s time to the present day and connecting literature to theatre. She questions the feeling of fear and asks how far can we go when we are afraid of losing something, of losing our land, our social status, our privileges, our body, our language, or of losing face.
Françoise Dô (France) is a recipient of the Cité internationale des arts Writing Committee.
