Co-production: Palais de la Porte Dorée - Musée national de l'histoire de l'immigration and the Cité internationale des arts.

With the support of the Onda.

From November 16th-30th 2018, the Cité internationale des arts will host the festival’s second key event at its Montmartre site in the 18th arrondissement, transformed for the occasion into an exhibition space spread over 3 floors.

On Fridays and Saturdays, the programme continues with festive evenings featuring performances, debates and concerts in the large living room on the ground floor, the scenography of which has been entrusted to the Syrian artist Khaled Alwaera. The scenography, conceived using recycled materials, is an installation in its own right, a metaphor for a transition between two worlds, serving both as a space of conviviality and an ephemeral stage.

On the agenda for this evening:

Traverses is a show project on recent migrations that modify individual and collective identities. What repertoire should be built from stories and how can it be narrated to the set? A first residency in Beirut explores the bonds of solidarity and conflicts between Syrians and Lebanese, as Lebanon has welcomed 1.5 to 2 million Syrian refugees since 2011.

Design by Leyla-Claire Rabih (France/Syria), in collaboration with Jean-Christophe Lanquetin (France), Elie Youssef (Syria) and Philippe Journo (France). Followed by a discussion with Leïla Vignal (France), a geographer specialising in the Middle East.

Al Akhareen ("The Others" in Arabic) offers a unique musical alchemy and a reflection on otherness. On stage, the group combines striving hip-hop, free improvisation and a revisited Arab tradition for a unique music: a deep and poetic rap combined with a flawless groove, demanding and powerful.

With Naïssam Jalal (flute, nay, vocals - France/Syria), DJ Junkaz Lou (turntables - France/Senegal), Osloob (rap, vocals, beatbox - Palestine).
