In view of the latest recommendations by the French government regarding the protection against Covid-19, the Cité internationale des arts cancels all its cultural programming, public activities and Open Studios until further notice.

Til we meet again, please do go discover the online sound exhibition of Frédéric Nauczyciel.

Safe Place / Areas of trust... renders a reflection that brings together each of the different projects on which Frédéric Nauczyciel has worked in different locations, on different occasions and with different groups of people: how can we create areas of trust and proximity in art?

Since his first installation and performance in 2012 at the Mac/Val, which explored voguing in Baltimore, he has been striving to address, conceptualise and create the possible conditions for a "safe place".

In residency as a partner artist at the Cité internationale des arts from 2018 to 2020, he developed a programme divided into six parts comprising get-togethers, workshops and performances. In this exhibition he is presenting a sound installation, which reuses recordings made on these different occasions.

More than an exhibition, it is a place for exchange and discussion with Frédéric Nauczyciel, around the notions of proximity, trust, inclusion... In addition to listening to the story on headphones, the artist invites visitors to ask themselves what a "safe place" is. The first discussions will begin on the evening of the opening (Thursday, March 12th) at 7 pm.

Produced by Studio House of HMU [Frédéric Nauczyciel], with the support of the Cité internationale des arts, Ateliers Médicis and the DRAC Ile de France.
