This is a French Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2022 certified exhibition.

Hercules, a 5-metre-long cetacean,

Eddy, white and welded,

They speed by and lunge

Hercules’s fin pierces Eddy,

Who dives,

Their bodies entwined.

Water buckles,

The horizon bulges,

A rain of chestnuts

The water under a bed of leaves,

The dark ocean.

Immersed

The two friends hold each other tight

Eddy’s welds give way.

Covered with steel, Hercules comes back up,

A ray of light caresses him

He drifts towards the glass bay.

 – Inès Malfaisan

Inès Malfaisan is inspired by nature, animals and their freedom, her dogs and the bodies of these hairy, four-legged animals in whose attitudes she can see herself. Hercule, Eddy is an arrangement of the chance encounters that occur spontaneously during daily journeys. It is made up of photos taken on a phone and materials that Malfaisan sometimes puts under her arm and walks away with. The street merges with the studio and both are stored in files; in her home, they are permeated by her intimacy

Inès Malfaisan (France) is in residency at the Cité internationale des arts as part of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Lyon program.
