Ali Baghdady is an Egyptian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. His work aims to bridge the gap between East and West, the past and the present, local and global, material and spiritual. He incorporates multiple Arabic influences and hip-hop or trap music rhythms into his repertoire, enveloping everything with jazzy harmonies.
After having been part of a group that paid tribute to Tom Waits, Ali Baghdady decided to explore his Egyptian roots and embarked on a solo journey in contemporary/electronic music. Through his work, he seeks to transcend the dualities of culture and time and achieve harmony.
Ali Baghdady (Egypt) is in residence at the Cité internationale des arts through the programme of the Institut français.
