The European Investment Bank Institute (EIB) and the Cité internationale des arts are pleased to announce the 2023 edition of the "Artists Development Programme" (ADP). This edition is sponsored and mentored by the renowned French-Italian artist Tatiana Trouvé.
Three formats are proposed and are open to emerging European visual artists, under 35 years old:
• For all, on the theme "Disruption: The Imprint of Man".
• For artists from for visual artists from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Türkiye, and Ukraine.
• For artists from for visual artists from Bulgaria, Croatia, Finland, Hungary, Luxembourg, and Slovakia.

The program includes:
• A live-in studio at the Marais site of the Cité internationale des arts (furnished working and living space with wifi);
• An €80 (eighty euro) flat-rate daily allowance to cover their living costs during the residency and all or part of the production costs.
• A contribution towards production of €500 (five hundred euro) at the beginning of the residency and a success fee of €1 000 (one thousand euro) at the end of the residency, provided that they have produced a work or body of works.
• Round trip transportation to Paris.
Upon completion of the residency, the EIB may consider acquiring an artwork produced on-site by the artist.
• Visual artists born after 1 January 1988 (in the case of an artist duo, both members must be aged 35 or under).
• Visual artists who are EU nationals (in the case of an artist duo, both members must be EU nationals), from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Türkiye, and Ukraine or from Bulgaria, Croatia, Finland, Hungary, Luxembourg, and Slovakia.
• Must be fluent in English.

Results:
End of May 2023.
Residency:
From September 04 to November 27, 2023.
Candidates’ files must contain the following elements:
• A CV in English (maximum four pages) including education, work experience, solo and group shows, and media coverage.
• A letter of motivation (in English) with ideas to be explored during the residency (maximum 700 words).
• A portfolio (maximum eight pages in A4 PDF format) to showcase a representative selection of the applicant’s works.
Please note that proof of nationality and age will be requested if shortlisted.
A jury – consisting of Tatiana Trouvé (the mentor), members of the EIB Arts Committee, a representative of Cité Internationale des Arts and external art advisers – will select the candidates based on the artistic quality of their work, their motivation and their potential to make the most of the opportunity offered by the residency, as well as the relevance of their practice to the cultural context of the EIB Institute.
Any application failing to comply with the set requirements will be automatically disqualified.
With a surface area ranging from 25 to 60m2, the studio apartments are designed to combine production and daily life. They consist of a work room, a kitchen, a bathroom and a sleeping area. A live-in studio can accommodate up to two adults and a child up to 7 years old.
Unfortunately, the proposed live-in studio do not meet current accessibility standards for people with disabilities, and we are working on this for the future.

The EIB Institute was set up within the EIB Group (European Investment Bank and European Investment Fund) to promote and support social, artistic, cultural, and academic initiatives with European stakeholders and the public at large.
One of its flagship initiatives is the Artists Development Programme (ADP). The ADP offers European visual artists a residency mentored by an internationally renowned artist. It enables artists to develop their practice and work on the production of an artwork without any material constraints.
Upon its completion, a series of events mark the end of the residency: an exhibition, the introduction of the artists to appropriate public fora, and, typically, the acquisition of the programme’s artworks by the EIB to enrich its contemporary art collection.
The Cité internationale des arts is a residency centre that brings artists and culture professionals together in the heart of Paris, allowing them to work on creative projects or carry out research project in all disciplines.
The Cité internationale des arts provides an environment that is conducive to creativity by hosting residents for periods of two months to one year and facilitating contacts with arts and culture professionals. Residents receive personalised support and assistance from the Cité internationale des arts team at its two sites: in the Marais (18 rue de l’Hôtel de Ville, 75004 Paris) and Montmartre (24 rue Norvins, 75018 Paris).
Each residency is an opportunity to meet and exchange with more than 300 artists and culture professionals of all generations, nationalities and disciplines. In collaboration with its many partners, the Cité internationale des arts calls for applications on specific themes and/or projects several times a year.
