Alexis Chrun, born in 1991 in Paris and graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2016, seeks to point out the contradictions of contemporary society and its representations as well as to question the role of art in the production of cultural consensus and values. In his work, he addresses head-on and questions the contexts, conditions and outcomes of artistic production, including professional relationships and the status of the artist.

In 2017, he received the Paris Fine Arts prize at the 62nd Salon de Montrouge for a book project. Since then, he has exhibited in various venues on the French scene and more recently in a biennial in China. He is an active member of in.plano, a studio and exhibition space awarded by the François de Hatvany Foundation.

Each medium he uses is a medium that he tries to question and deconstruct, sliding from one to the other, from sculpture to book, from word to pocket, from spectator to work. His work is shaped by an unfailing fascination with the sculpted gesture – millimetrically calibrated through practice – inspired in particular by Brancusi as much as by Zidane. His attention is focused on details and fragile balances. Words, puns, objects and bindings are all accidents on which he clings to develop his projects.
