Concert in tribute to André Larquié, former president of the Cité internationale des arts (2006 to 2015)

Andrew Briggs & Olivier Marin

_

This two-part concert (Duet with two Obligato Eyeglasses by Ludwig Van Beethoven and American Haiku by Paul Wiancko) performed by Andrew Briggs and Olivier Marin pays tribute to André Larquié, President of the Cité internationale des arts between 2006 and 2015.

Both recipients of the Cité internationale des arts and members of the Kimya ensemble, Andrew Briggs and Olivier Marin are two classical musicians who like to break codes and seek to renew the role of the interpreter of the 21st century. Interpreters, composers and improvisers in turn, the two musicians venture into all styles of music and try to transmit their own musical touch while keeping a strong instrumental tradition alive. While waiting for their two other acolytes, who usually form with them the Kimya quartet, the duo explores in its own way two pieces, composed more than two hundred years apart, but which have in common to meet contemporary reflections. In this difficult period, when art is forced into silence and the role of the musician is questioned, the term "living" music takes on its full meaning. Indeed, the legacy of the iconoclastic and fiery Ludwig Van Beethoven, as well as the multiculturalism of the contemporary composer Paul Wiancko, testify that music is above all a living and human dialogue that abolishes borders, be they temporal or geographical.
